Shirleysburg is a borough located in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, USA. As of the 2010 census, the population was 149. It is located in the southern part of the county and is part of the State College, Pennsylvania metropolitan area.
The borough was named after James Shirley, who owned land in the area in the early 19th century. It was incorporated in 1834 as a part of Shirley Township.
Shirleysburg is located near the Standing Stone Trail, which offers hiking opportunities. It is also home to several historic buildings, including the 1818 Brown-Gwinner House and the Barree Forge and Furnace, which operated from 1798 to 1844.
The nearest town to Shirleysburg is Mount Union, which is approximately 5 miles to the northeast. Other nearby towns include Orbisonia, Rockhill Furnace, and Three Springs.
Shirleysburg is served by the Mount Union Area School District, which includes Mount Union Area Junior/Senior High School and Kistler Elementary School. It is also home to the Shirleysburg Community Center, which hosts a variety of community events and activities.
